How was your weekend?
It was my birthday yesterday.
I was 21…
…plus 22 🙂
I had a great birthday brunch at Roka in Canary wharf with Alex and then Tom and Jess surprised me by turning up at our place with a chocolate Gruffalo cake with a big sparkler sticking out of it which set the smoke alarm off – very amusing and a really nice surprise so thank you, Tom and Jess.
Alex started the day rather well by getting me Robbie Williams tickets for next year and some new cologne from Christian Dior so I’m smelling gooood today.
Overall it was a great day and I’m very grateful for everyone that wished me happy birthday, either by text, Facebook or carrier pigeon 🙂
So there I am, having a nice birthday, surrounded by great family and friends and looking forward to a nice Christmas and I watch a video on Facebook of what’s going on in Aleppo at the moment and it brings me down very quickly.
What a failure in humanity.
I’m not going to go into who is right or wrong because to be honest, I don’t know…
…but to get up on a Monday morning and start my week when those people’s lives are being devastated in ways we will never experience, almost makes me feel guilty.
I know I can’t feel like that but it certainly makes me appreciate where we live and where we were born, which of course was pure luck.
In fact, the odds of being born a human are about 1 in 400 Trillion.
Yea, someone worked that out apparently.
I’d like to keep perspective though but just make you all aware that are extremely lucky to be where we are right now.
We all have problems every day.
Things go devastatingly wrong sometimes but it’s unlikely we will experience anything close to what Syria goes through every single day and of course, many other nations like this with disease, famine or war.
Take a moment today out your busy schedule to just think and be grateful.
That’s it for today – not a huge amount of fitness and nutrition but more about appreciation and gratitude.
I will be back on Wednesday though kicking your arse when you blow your diet over the next few days (which you probably will and it’s Christmas so why not?)
Have a great day everybody and don’t sweat the small stuff because it’s all small stuff isn’t it?
